The diplomatic protocol… (training at MGIMO)

Preparation of the delegation in 2012 was a comprehensive training at MGIMO.

MGIMO jointly with the League developed a week-long intensive training course. It was represented by a system of lectures and workshops on the introduction of the international balance of forces today to conduct international negotiations, meetings and member events: «Russia in the international system: the priorities of Russian foreign policy» (A. Vysotsky AM), «The Group of Eight and The Group of Twenty: role in contemporary international relations» (V. Kuznetsov), «Preparation of documents of international conferences and negotiations» (Alexandrov), «The Art of Negotiating» (Training in English) (E. Zinoviev).

The second educational unit has a practical basis, and suggested bilateral involvement of students and professor emeritus at MGIMO. International organizations and structures — OSCE, APEC, SCO CIS Briggs, the UN — the basic concept of the operation and role of Russia in their activities, international organizations and structures — NATO, EU and Council of Europe: politics and the role of Russia, art of negotiation; basics of diplomatic protocol.

A business game «Youth for sustainable development» was held on Friday, March 16 (with the team of MGIMO students).

The most important for the delegates was a meeting with the practitioners — v. Lukov (Ambassador in Charge of the Russian Federation) and A. A. Bokarev (Director of the Department for International Financial Relations of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation). Vadim Lukov formulated foreign policy priorities of Russia in the G8 and G20, as well as the main agenda for future meetings in the international format.

The meeting in the Presidential administration with Russian sherpa in G8 was held on March 15. Key issues: the IMF, the Arab Spring, and ecology. The answers were clear and direct. That is needed for guys, and in 2012 delegation will return to the office of the Assistant President of Russian Federation and talk about progress in the Washington job.

According to Kseniia Khoruzhnikova, Chair of the League, who founded the project «G8 Youth Summit» in 2005: «Russian youth team in 2012 seriously and responsibly approached to participate in training in Moscow and the creation of the Russian youth position. The delegates are very lucky to win the contest and to participate in the summit. Each year, about two hundred delegates from twenty countries around the world join together. The value of this international team is growing from year to year, and I'm sure a number of alumnis will negotiate as heads of state and ministers of their countries in the future. We invest in those who will make key decisions on the scale of the planet and who affects at its development today. It's a long investment, but it's worth it».
