International Forum «Youth of the CIS — the future of public diplomacy»
Ksenia Khoruzhnikova (Chair of the International Youth Diplomacy League) and Dilbar Sadykova (CEO of the League) took part in the International Forum «Youth of the CIS — the future of public diplomacy» which became a key event of the visit of young political, social, scientific and business groups of the CIS countries to Russia. International Forum 2011 was held 20 years after creation of the CIS.
The opening ceremony was attended by The head of ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO Agency Farid Mukhametshin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbul Ogly, CEO of the Russian Council for Foreign Affairs Andrei Kortunov, Deputy Chief of Rossotrudnichestvo Igor Morozov and George Muradov, Deputy Director of the CIS Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Swedets, State Duma deputy Ramazan Abdulatipov and CEO of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member states Armen Smbatyan.
Ksenia Khoruzhnikova held a presentation of the activities and results of the International Youth Diplomacy League and the development of public diplomacy in Russia at the plenary meeting of the Forum. Dilbar Sadykova shared the experience of Russian delegation participation at the G8 & G20 Youth Summits in 2011 and of the League projects aimed at youth cooperation of the CIS.
Within the sections, and «round tables», on this day, the participants discussed such issues as the challenge of youth and the role of public diplomacy, the main directions of cooperation between youth organizations in the Post-Soviet space, technology and best practices of public diplomacy, social obligations, issues of training personnel, information policy in the CIS. As a result of the Forum the young delegates took the Final resolution, and agreed to further intercultural dialogue between young people of the CIS countries, which included the idea of the International Youth Diplomacy League on the joint activities of the League’s Business Club.
