The opening of the XVI International Festival of Arts «Master Class»
On June, the opening of the XVI International Festival of Arts «MASTER CLASS» was held in the Russian Ethnographic Museum. The leitmotif and the main theme of this year is the image of Madonna, mother and child and the charity ball held in the beautiful Marble Hall of the Museum held on the occasion of the opening was dedicated to the International Children’s Day. The atmosphere was like taking the middle of the XIX century: about 20 pairs of professional ball dancers opened the evening by giving the public a graceful waltz. Later they were joined by cadets of the Suvorov Military School, clad in parade uniforms, inviting girls in evening dresses, pupils of vocational schools to dance. Also the festival was attended by children from orphanages.
Still the main theme of the evening was the Arts Festival. Tamara Semenova, director of the Fund for Support of Culture and Arts, welcomed the participants, among whom were both children and artists (painters, sculptors, artists, actors), and opened the festival «MASTER CLASS». On the eve of a two-week exhibition marathon Tamara Semenova expressed sincere gratitude to all who made this project possible: the participants of the festival for interesting creative work, the organizers, the International Youth Diplomacy League in particular, the city administration: Olga Ivanova, chairman of the Committee on Education and Alla Manilova, chairman of the Committee on printing and interaction with the media.
The event was marked by the young talents who have proven themselves in the campaign «Children under the sky of Isaac," when about 300 children created images of angels in Isaac, Smolny Cathedral and the Savior on Spilled Blood. All the works were exhibited on the second floor exhibition hall of the Ethnographic Museum, and the top 10 works were awarded with gifts from the «Master Class». Among the most talented children were even children from general consulates of some foreign countries in St. Petersburg.
The opening justified the name of the festival — there was a master class for performing of the waltz, foxtrot, tango and other dances. In addition guests had the opportunity to enjoy the performances of various music, dance, acrobatics, and other groups.
The holiday was magical and at the same time, warm. The start was good and it set up the participants the needed creative way.
